This is an exciting opportunity to make a contribution to the provision of Sports Therapy at the University of Worcester. As an integral member of the dynamic and expanding School of Sport and Exercise Science, the Principal Lecturer in Sports Therapy will work within a team delivering high quality teaching of Sports Therapy, and will also support staff and students engaged in teaching and learning, research and consultancy.  It is hoped that the successful candidate will be able to take on Course Leadership responsibilities.

In the School of Sport and Exercise Science our vision is to use sport as an engine for opportunity - supporting positive social transformation. We have an excellent international reputation in the field of inclusive sport, pioneering new ways to open up the joy of active participation in sport to hitherto marginalised and under-represented groups. We also maintain a strong focus on employability in our teaching. Worcester graduates are skilled, experienced and enthusiastic, and we are confident that they will go on to make a significant impact as the sports practitioners of the future.

Our commitment to work that delivers real social benefit is facilitated through high quality teaching, world leading research, and ground-breaking facilities. For example, University of Worcester Arena is the first sports facility in the UK to be designed with the needs of the wheelchair athlete in mind. The arena also hosts a wide range of international sports events and is the home for the regions professional netball and Basketball franchises. We have also developed a range of productive partnerships, both at home and overseas; collaborations that have helped cement Worcester’s place on the world stage.

The University of Worcester is a university that is really on the move.  This year we were nominated for THE awards in 5 categories including University of the Year and we won the award for ‘Outstanding Contribution to the Local Community’.  We have also been named ‘Sustainability Institution of the Year’ in the 2019 Green Gown Awards.  Worcester City is a beautiful, historic city on the River Severn and has been voted one of the happiest places in the UK to live.
