The Role

We are seeking an exceptional academic leader to join our team as Associate Professor of Interprofessional Education (IPE). This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of collaborative healthcare education and research.

You will provide strategic leadership and discipline-specific expertise across interprofessional education, supporting the development and delivery of innovative, employment-focused programmes that prepare students for effective team-based practice. You will champion high-quality IPE initiatives underpinned by research and scholarship, with a particular focus on skills, simulation, and practice learning. Working with external partners, including NHS Trusts, Integrated Care Boards, and the voluntary sector, you will ensure our programmes and research make a real-world impact.

In addition to research leadership, you will make a significant contribution to School leadership, supporting strategic initiatives and mentoring colleagues. You will also play a key role in advancing learning and teaching, ensuring our programmes are engaging, research-informed, and aligned with professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide academic leadership and role modelling within and across programme areas.
  • Lead and advance research and knowledge exchange activities in inter-professional education.
  • Develop and secure major research funding bids.
  • Supervise doctoral students and mentor colleagues across the research career pathway.
  • Contribute to innovative teaching and curriculum development at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels.
  • Drive the development of skills, simulation, and practice learning initiatives.
  • Engage with health and social care partners to translate research into policy and practice.
  • Lead specified initiatives at School, College, or University level.

About You

We are looking for a dynamic academic with:

  • A strong track record of internationally excellent research in inter-professional education or related fields.
  • Experience of leading research projects and securing external funding.
  • A commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation.
  • Excellent leadership and mentoring skills.
  • A passion for developing future health professionals through research-informed teaching.

 What We Offer

  • Annual incremental increase up to £66,537, with the opportunity to progress to £70,579 subject to performance and the university reward scheme
