Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in English Language

The Department of English, Media & Culture, within the Institute of Arts & Humanities, is seeking to appoint an experienced scholar as Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in English Language on a fixed term basis of 12 months. The candidate should have experience of teaching English Language, particularly sociolinguistics. Interdisciplinary backgrounds and experience are welcomed particularly as the course is aligned to an understanding of ideologies, histories, cultures and identity politics.  Among the undergraduate modules the appointee might deliver or contribute to in 2025-26 are the following:

  • General Linguistics;
  • Sociolinguistic Theory and practice;
  • Language and Power; and,
  • Style and Identity.

The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to supervise undergraduate dissertation projects. There may also be the opportunity to contribute to our Postgraduate programmes, such as MA English and / or MA Cultural Studies.
