The School of Science and the Environment at the University of Worcester is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic lecturer to support teaching and learning in the Department of Biological Sciences, and course development with an emphasis on Forensic Science courses.

The post holder will be expected to contribute to and deliver an outstanding learning experience for the School’s undergraduate taught programmes. We are particularly interested in Forensic Science practitioners with experience of Forensic Chemistry, Forensic Anthropology, Forensic Archaeology, and/or Crime Scene Investigation. The successful candidate will hold a relevant postgraduate degree (MA/MSc/PhD) and will have experience within a Forensic Science field. They are also likely to have some teaching or training experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver lectures, seminars, and practical sessions in Forensic Science.
  • Assist in developing new undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
  • Develop and update course materials, ensuring they are current and relevant.
  • Supervise and mentor undergraduate students.
  • Participate in departmental administration and curriculum development.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of the student experience through innovative teaching practices.

In the School of Science and the Environment, students and staff alike are part of a welcoming and vibrant scientific community. With a host of state-of-the-art facilities, the School provides a dynamic, friendly and engaging environment in which to enjoy your teaching, develop your research and further your career.

The forensic course, which comprises both current and former practitioners, has a number of state of the art pieces of analytical equipment (ffTA, GCMS, FTIR etc), together with a crime scene house, archaeological searching equipment (GPR etc), human bone collection, and body fluid searching equipment such as Crimelite auto etc.

The successful individual will join a small but successful team that is looking to develop and expand the forensic courses available at the university.

For an informal discussion in relation to this role please contact Keith Unwin by email at k.unwin@worc.ac.uk

If this is an area that interests you but you are committed to your present role within the forensic industry, there are also opportunities for session/associate level lectures who only teach when they are free and when they are required/needed by the course.
